Itanagar, June 2: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Arunachal Pradesh spokesperson Shri Tanya Agu on Tuesday clarified that the party has not yet finalized its candidate for the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Arunachal Pradesh, amid widespread speculation and circulation of names on social media.

Addressing a press briefing at the BJP State Headquarters in Itanagar, Agu said the party has noticed several social media posts congratulating certain individuals and projecting them as the BJP’s official candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha election.

He categorically stated that no final decision has been taken regarding the selection of the party’s Rajya Sabha nominee and that no official party ticket has been issued to any individual so far.
Agu further noted that the BJP State President had already clarified the party’s position earlier in the day. He urged the public, party workers, and supporters not to be misled by unverified information circulating online.
“The names being circulated on social media are purely individual opinions and do not carry any official endorsement from the Bharatiya Janata Party,” he said.
Responding to queries from journalists, Agu informed that a total of 16 aspirants have applied for the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Arunachal Pradesh.
He emphasized that the party’s final decision will be communicated only through official channels and appealed to everyone to rely solely on authenticated party communications.
Reiterating the BJP’s commitment to transparency and disciplined communication, Agu called upon the public to exercise responsibility and maintain decorum in public discourse while avoiding the spread of unverified information.
